Common Sense About Global Warming
Here's your reality check of the day, courtesy of Professor Ian Plimer:
We cannot stop carbon emissions because most of them come from volcanoes," he said. "It is a normal element cycled around in the earth and my science, which is looking back in time, is saying we have had a planet that has been a green, warm wet planet 80 per cent of the time. We have had huge climate change in the past and to think the very slight variations we measure today are the result of our life - we really have to put ice blocks in our drinks.
Let's stop wasting time and money on concocted issues and turn our attention to more important things. Like saving time and money.
Idiots.

Global Warming "Skeptics" Ranks Swell, Even As U.N. Declares Case Closed
“I am a skeptic…Global warming has become a new religion.” - Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever.
“Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly….As a scientist I remain skeptical.” - Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a PhD in meteorology and formerly of NASA who has authored more than 190 studies and has been called “among the most preeminent scientists of the last 100 years.”
Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in the history…When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.” - UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical chemist.
“The IPCC has actually become a closed circuit; it doesn’t listen to others. It doesn’t have open minds… I am really amazed that the Nobel Peace Prize has been given on scientifically incorrect conclusions by people who are not geologists,” - Indian geologist Dr. Arun D. Ahluwalia at Punjab University and a board member of the UN-supported International Year of the Planet.
“The models and forecasts of the UN IPCC "are incorrect because they only are based on mathematical models and presented results at scenarios that do not include, for example, solar activity.” - Victor Manuel Velasco Herrera, a researcher at the Institute of Geophysics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico
“It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming.” - U.S Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA.
“Even doubling or (tripling the amount of carbon dioxide will virtually have little impact, as water vapour and water condensed on particles as clouds dominate the worldwide scene and always will.” – . Geoffrey G. Duffy, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering of the University of Auckland, NZ.
“After reading [UN IPCC chairman] Pachauri's asinine comment [comparing skeptics to] Flat Earthers, it's hard to remain quiet.” - Climate statistician Dr. William M. Briggs, who specializes in the statistics of forecast evaluation, serves on the American Meteorological Society's Probability and Statistics Committee and is an Associate Editor of Monthly Weather Review.
“For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming? For how many years must cooling go on?" - Geologist Dr. David Gee the chairman of the science committee of the 2008 International Geological Congress who has authored 130 plus peer reviewed papers, and is currently at Uppsala University in Sweden.
“Gore prompted me to start delving into the science again and I quickly found myself solidly in the skeptic camp…Climate models can at best be useful for explaining climate changes after the fact.” - Meteorologist Hajo Smit of Holland, who reversed his belief in man-made warming to become a skeptic, is a former member of the Dutch UN IPCC committee.
“Many [scientists] are now searching for a way to back out quietly (from promoting warming fears), without having their professional careers ruined.” - Atmospheric physicist James A. Peden, formerly of the Space Research and Coordination Center in Pittsburgh.
“Creating an ideology pegged to carbon dioxide is a dangerous nonsense…The present alarm on climate change is an instrument of social control, a pretext for major businesses and political battle. It became an ideology, which is concerning.” - Environmental Scientist Professor Delgado Domingos of Portugal, the founder of the Numerical Weather Forecast group, has more than 150 published articles.
“CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or another….Every scientist knows this, but it doesn’t pay to say so…Global warming, as a political vehicle, keeps Europeans in the driver’s seat and developing nations walking barefoot.” - Dr. Takeda Kunihiko, vice-chancellor of the Institute of Science and Technology Research at Chubu University in Japan.
“The [global warming] scaremongering has its justification in the fact that it is something that generates funds.” - Award-winning Paleontologist Dr. Eduardo Tonni, of the Committee for Scientific Research in Buenos Aires and head of the Paleontology Department at the University of La Plata.
The sooner we stop wasting precious resources schemes like carbon cap and trade schemes, the more attention we can put toward fixing the economy and reducing our dependence on foreign oil. How is this not clear to so many millions of people? Argh.

Wall Street Journal: Yellow Science
From the article,
Read the article in its entirety....Over the past several decades an increasing number of scientists have shed the restraints imposed by the scientific method and begun to proclaim the truth of man-made global warming. This is a hypothesis that remains untested, makes no predictions that can be tested in the near future, and cannot offer a numerical explanation for the limited evidence to which it clings. No equations have been shown to explain the relationship between fossil-fuel emission and global temperature. The only predictions that have been made are apocalyptic, so the hypothesis has to be accepted before it can be tested.
If yellow science overcomes real science it will not only be on account of the greed, ambition, and cowardice of our scientists but also the sloth and cowardice of a public that is unwilling to stand up and demand professionalism. This is why, as the editors of the New York Press said in 1897, I "called them yellow because they are yellow."

Ben Stein's New Movie Looks Very Cool
From the movie's website:
The American public’s awareness and beliefs vis-à-vis our government’s expanding role in defining the curriculum in America’s schools, universities and institutions of science.Expelled opens April 18th. Check to see where it's playing near you.
Neo-Darwinian theory contends that life is the result of a random, purposeless process.
Neo – Darwinian theory is taught in schools as if it is the only plausible scientific explanation of how life originated and developed. Yet Intelligent Design theory has recently emerged to challenge neo-Darwinian theory.
Both are scientific theories, and the debate is therefore legitimate. Why is the debate being suppressed?
At stake are two very consequential views of existence: Is life purposeful, and intelligently designed? Or is it random and purposeless?
“Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed” presents a point-of-view so powerful, that it
literally forces a re-examination of these issues.
“Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed” looks to scientists on both sides of the issue…and reveals some truly shocking answers.

Global Cooling?
The total amount of global cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down. The Democrats should come into power just in time to mandate spending billions to reduce carbon emissions and give the economy a nice big sucker punch on top of all its other problems. All for a political fad that will be rendered obsolete in a few years.
The next few years are going to be a long winter...

I Should Be a Reuters Editor
LONDON (Reuters) - There is a 25 percent chance that a severe heat wave will strike England and kill more than 6,000 people before 2017 if no action is taken to deal with the health effects of climate change, a report said on Tuesday.
The report for Britain's Department of Health estimated more than 3,000 people could die in an intense summer hot spell in southeast England, with just as many more dying from heat-related deaths over the summer.
Until 2012, when London stages the summer Olympic Games, the odds of thousands dying in summer heat each year will be 1 in 40, the report said, and thousands more could die each year as a result of other effects of global warming and air pollution.
"In terms of conventional thinking about risks to health, a risk of 1 in 40 is high," the report said.
Here's a more accurate version:
LONDON (Reuters) - There is a 25 percent chance that a severe heat propaganda wave will strike England and kill dupe more than 6,000 people before 2017 if no action is taken to deal with the health dubious effects of climate changejunk science, a report said on Tuesday.
The report for Britain's Department of Health Alarmism estimated more than 3,000 people could die react ignorantly in an intense summer hot spell campaign of misinformation in southeast England, with just as many more dying from reacting to heat-related deaths alarmist junk science over the summer.

Hey, that was fun. I could do this for a living.

Awesome Quote of the Day
"Climate change is a non problem. The right answer to a non problem is to have the courage to do nothing. The UN conference is a complete waste of our time and your money and we should no longer pay the slightest attention to the [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.]"From Lord Christopher Monckton, a UK climate researcher attending the UN climate conference at a posh resort in Bali, Indonesia.
His colleague, Australian scientist Dr. David Evans, noted that,
"This is the most lavish conference I have ever been to, but I am only a scientist and I actually only go to the science conferences.
Most of the people here have jobs that are very well paid and they depend on the idea that carbon emissions cause global warming. They are not going to be very receptive to the idea that well actually the science has gone off in a different direction."

Weather Channel Founder Disagrees with Global Warming Elite
Yes, I believe they can.
Here's what that guy, John Coleman, said:
It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.
I do not oppose environmentalism. I do not oppose the political positions of either party. However, Global Warming, ie Climate Change, is not about environmentalism or politics. It is not a religion. It is not something you “believe in.” It is science; the science of meteorology. This is my field of life-long expertise. And I am telling you Global Warming is a non-event, a manufactured crisis and a total scam. I say this knowing you probably won’t believe a me, a mere TV weatherman, challenging a Nobel Prize, Academy Award and Emmy Award winning former Vice President of United States. So be it.
I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.
Yeah, this guy's pretty much toast. He dares to contradict the "high priest of Global Warming." Personally, I think it's too late to change our societal bent toward this ridiculous notion. Too many companies have invested in appearing "green." Too many egos will be hurt to accept that they have been duped into espousing global warming. And too many elitists have too much power at stake to watch it evaporate in the face of sound reasoning that has a voice.
Only after a decade or two will society accept its folly--long after it has paid a heavy price for its beliefs.
By the way, here's an excellent (and rare) contrarian piece from 20/20.

From the Mouths of Old Coots: Global Warming Wisdom
He's a University of Wisconsin professor emeritus, and he takes a solid stand against current global-warming establishment with a slew of no-nonsense gems:
There is no credible evidence that it is due to mankind and carbon dioxide. We've been coming out of a Little Ice Age for 300 years. We have not been making very much carbon dioxide for 300 years. It's been warming up for a long time."
[Human-caused global warming] really isn't science because there's no really good scientific evidence.
Consensus doesn't prove anything, in science or anywhere else, except in democracy, maybe.
There is a lot of money to be made in this. If you want to be an eminent scientist you have to have a lot of grad students and a lot of grants. You can't get grants unless you say, 'Oh global warming, yes, yes, carbon dioxide.'
There is very little truth to what is being said and an awful lot of religion. It's almost a religion. Where you have to believe in anthropogenic (or man-made) global warming or else you are nuts.
[On Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth:] Don't make me throw up," he said. "It is not science. It is not true.

Global Warming? This Takes the Cake

Okay, as far as global warming stories go, they're nearly all completely inane. But none quite so moronic as this one. I found it linked from Drudge:
"Global warming concerns are keeping children awake at night."
That headline alone should be enough to make any sensible thinker vomit a little. The story says that "half of young children are anxious about the effects of global warming, often losing sleep because of their concern, according to a new report today."
What's even stupider? The explanation given by the head of the study:
"While many adults may look the other way, this study should show that global warming is not only hurting the children of the future, it's affecting the welfare of kids now."Um, do you think it would be affecting them if you weren't RAMMING IT DOWN EVERYONE'S THROATS? I think the problem isn't so much in global warming as it is in the media that forces this junk science into the collective conscience. And the self-serving politicians who use global warming fear-mongering to keep themselves in power.
Excuse me while I clean the bile from my mouth.

Steak for Dinner? Not If You're Truly Concerned About the Planet
The environmentalists aren't satisfied with destroying U.S. manufacturing with overbearing regulation. They've also targeted ranchers and the accompanying feed industry. Says the article:
...livestock are a major emitter of greenhouse gases that cause climate change. And as meat becomes a growing mainstay of human diet around the world, changing what we eat may prove as hard as changing what we drive. The global warming hype reminds me of the Anna Nicole Smith story. Just when you thought it couldn't get more insane, it does. They won't be satisfied until Earth is the new Venus and everyone is dead of heat stroke.

More Man-made Environmental Doomsday Blather
The stupidity is immediately apparent as the article starts off by posturing the urban legend about coke-dissolved teeth as fact. The rest is just nonsense, with no evidence that anything is being harmed by diminutive increases in water acidity.
Why do these people hate humanity so much? Can't hate something else? Like cancer or hunger?
