Long Live Hip-Hop

America's first Hip-Hop Mayor has certainly lived up to the title in his six years in office. I'm not going to list the countless escapades of collusion, nepotism, murder, corruption, sex and infidelity associated with Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's administration, but just express my disgust toward the man and the people who knew they were electing a thug in the first place. Yesterday he was charged with eight felony counts including perjury under oath, obstruction of justice, conspiracy, etc., etc. Here's his mug shot.

The woman is Christine Beatty, hip-hop mayor's...um...actually, I won't use the hip-hop terminology. But the word landed Don Imus in hot water.

And what does our lovely liberal governor have to say about the whole situation? Nothing, of course.

Roe v. Wade - Interesting Facts

Logically, the amount of experiences and data supporting the overturn of Roe v. Wade is so overwhelming that it defies logic that anyone can support that monumental act of judicial abuse. This article just adds yet more weight to the side of procreative restraint.

...Roe did substantially increase abortions, more than doubling the rate per live birth in the five years from 1972 to 1977. But many other changes occurred at the same time:

• A sharp increase in premarital sex.
• A sharp rise in out-of-wedlock births.
• A drop in the number of children placed for adoption.
• A decline in marriages that occur after the woman is pregnant.

The basic assertion here is that Roe v. Wade helped eliminate responsibility and inhibitions toward premarital sex. This led to folks producing a LOT more illegitimate babies--even taking into account those who chose to have their children aborted. And we know that single-parent homes, in aggregate, lead to such a host of social woes that it's safe to assume that Roe v. Wade can be blamed for much of what is wrong today--crime, poverty, illiteracy and worse.

This goes way beyond life versus choice. The evidence is clear that society is harmed by the liberalization of abortion.

Gore a Mac Fan

As if I needed another reason to dislike Al Gore, here we see him in front of his Macintosh computer. He's not just a hip, caring, carbon-conscious environmentalist. He's also a hip, trendy, do-my-thinking-for-me Mac fan.

At least now we know what platforms go hand-in-hand.

Carbon Credits A Sham. Why Am I Not Surprised?

This story, linked from Drudge, is just more evidence that the self-proclaimed "environmentalists" are really capitalists in thiefs' clothing.

Pop quiz. Here's the situation. Unions dominate the marketplace, causing massive layoffs and economic shrinkage. The state's major metro is run by clowns. The real estate market is in steep decline. Citizens are cash-strapped.

What do you do?

If you're the Democrat-controlled state legislature, you promise tax hikes and an iPod for every public school student.

That sounds like a lame joke, but it's totally true.

Is there no level of selfishness and ignorance these leftist politicians won't exploit? I mean, there are LOTS of brainless, spineless sheep out here in Michigan who actually elect these people to office. Michigan has definitely dug its own hole, and the deeper I look into it, the more disgusting I find the slosh at the bottom of it.

Al Franken Is Hilariously Hopeless

I'm not too current with Minnesota politics (or the politics of most states, for that matter), but an Al Franken story popped up on my screen and gave me a laugh. For those who don't know, the left-wing comedian is running for senate against Norm Coleman, the Republican incumbent. The story is about how Franken is meeting with ag producers and learning all kinds of things he never knew before. What got me laughing were his comments:

“I know almost nothing about it, and I will have to learn more about it not only in the next 19 months before the election but hopefully the next six, seven, eight, 12 to 14 years in the Senate.”

Does Al know how long a senate term is? Apparently, it's anywhere from 6-14 years long. (The senate has a six-year election cycle.) Now that's quite a term!

Having been in Minnesota several times, I can say that it's a beautiful state. But that doesn't diminish the fact that the state is known for supporting wackos, (Jesse Ventura, Ralph Nader, etc). So it makes perfect sense for Franken to make his political debut there. It should be good for a few more laughs.

Putting Your Money Where Your Politics Are

Ah, we have definitive proof. It's something I've suspected for years and years, but it seems that it has been a conclusion too politically incorrect to study. Until now.

Read this excellent article about a study that shows that conservatives are more generous than their sweet-talking liberal counterparts. Which of course is hypocritical, considering that for decades liberals have labeled conservatives as less compassionate, less caring, less giving.

Looks like the only care that liberals have is to provide for the needy on someone else's dollar. And then take credit for it.

I guess they need the money for their expensive iPods and Apple hardware. Because being cool is more important than being genuine.

Al Gore On Earth's "Full-scale Planetary Emergency"

All style, no substance. If rhetoric was cats, Al Gore would put crazy old cat women to shame. Seriously.

I don't have time left today to give this Space.com article a scathing enough review, but there's enough hot air in Gore's speech to the Wirefly X Prize Cup Executive Summit 2006 to induce global warming on a scale beyond his wildest happy fantasies (which are wild enough already).

He treats us to some wonderful gems. On the possibility of mankind emigrating from Planet Earth:

"We didn't do a really good job of evacuating the city of New Orleans [due to the onslaught of hurricane]."

On our planet's "rising fever,"

"If the crib catches fire you don't say: ‘Hmmm, how fast is that crib going to burn? Has it ever burned before? Is my baby flame retardant?"

On Earth studies,

"It's still shocking to me that we have more detailed information in some fields about Mars and Venus than we have about Earth."

His speech appears to be littered with so much hyperbole, without the backing of reputable scientific theory, that it's more an exercise in gratuitous blather than a reasonable call to caution.

Read it for yourself. You'll see. Thank goodness he didn't win in 2000.

Harry Reid – What A Hero

I just love this headline from U.S. Newswire: "Reid Goes Beyond Ethics Requirements, Disarms GOP Smear Campaign."

The article is pretty much a press release from the Harry camp, outlining the extra-mile efforts Reid has undertaken to head off a Republican smear campaign. In other words, he has frantically tried to rewrite history to avoid losing whatever moral high ground he supposes he has. And it will probably work. It looks like he received enough pressure from his fellows that rather than defend his actions, he has capitulated and tried to make his actions seem like an innocent mistake.

I wish I had the opportunity to make an "innocent mistake" to the tune of nearly a million dollars.
