Into the woods

Over the weekend I went for a little bicycle romp through the snowy nature trails of a nearby park. I've decided that I prefer the verdant green of spring and summer over the cold desaturated world of winter, but it was still a pretty ride.

I like my earbuds

This is neither here nor there, but it's been a while since I wrote anything here that nobody (or anybody) reads. For Christmas I got those Bose Triport® Earbuds. I had tried them in the store, and they seemed very comfortable and produced good sound. Now, after nearly a month, I have to say I'm still pleased.

In looking at reviews on the Internet, I found most people critical of the fact that they're too bass-y. I tend to agree, but a simple tweak to the equalizer fixes that problem. Now I can listen to tunes all day long without any soreness on the ears. The sound that's reproduced is at least as good, if not better, than earmuff-style headphones.

In short, yay for my Bose earbuds.

Stepped outside on the way to work the other day. We had an ice storm the previous night. It made for a long, boring commute, but the way the sunlight refracted through the ice on the trees made it all worth it. Beauty in the midst of inconvenience.

2007 NAIAS Auto Show - Detroit

Yep, I went to the 2007 North American International Auto Show yesterday. Kind of a birthday present to myself (though the tickets were free through work.) It was pretty cool, though I'm not much of a car guy. Just a reminder of everything I'll never afford. But it was still fun to look at the shiny fenders and flashy lights.

Check out my flickr photoset of the event.

New Specs

Got new glasses yesterday. My wife says that after I shave, they look a little metrosexual. That's fine with me. It's a lot less work than buffing my cuticles or coordinating my pants.

Quote of the Day

It’s so great to be able to give direction to someone like him. It’s like having the greatest painter in the world at your disposal and saying “Yeah, Michelangelo, can you put a little green over here?”
Neal Morse, on working with drummer Mike Portnoy. (Both are among my favorite musicians/songwriters.)

How Fun Is This?

I'm no dance expert. Heck, I wouldn't even call myself a dance fan. For me, my interest in dancing has been about equal with that of knitting.

So when I say that I really enjoyed Dancing with the Stars at the Palace of Auburn Hills last night, it carries some weight.

It wasn't seeing sleeveless Joey Lawrence's perspiring bald head. It wasn't hearing Joey McIntyre's crooning of songs from his new album. It wasn't even Edita's long, motion-blurred legs. It was just a lot of fun watching people having fun dancing their hearts out.

Obviously, pictures can't do it justice. Especially pictures taken by me. Even so, feel free to check out my Flickr gallery and let me know what you think.

I think this may have to become a yearly event for us.

Stars. Dancing. With them.

I expect tomorrow night to be the kitschiest, most elegant night of my life. Yes, my wife and I are going to see Dancing with the Stars – the Show. I'll try to give a full report afterward.

It's Official...Finally

Mitt Romney has filed papers to officially declare candidacy for the 2008 presidential bid. Suck it, McCain!
